Here's to starting over.

It's almost the end of 2010! Tonnes of things have happened ever since my last post and I think it would be good to have them penned down in my most probably last entry for the 2010.

Somewhere between the last entry till now, I went for an internship interview at St. Regis Singapore. I still remember the joy when they called me while I was stuck in the middle of a super boring lesson. I was literally bursting for joy that I think everyone in the classroom thought I was going crazy but that did not stop me because the day I've been looking for was here and I've spent a commendable amount of my time researching on the hotel and studying about its heritage. Interview day came, I was on a cab feeling all nerve-wrecked and blessed. Somehow it just occurred to me that I am lucky to be where I am today and whatever happens, happens.

Everything went as planned and I remember walking out of the interview feeling relieved and happy. Then came the harsh reality - St. Regis has already called the 2 interns and I was not one of them. Somehow the feeling of loss overwhelmed me and needless to say, I was dejected.

Somehow to me, it wasn't the feeling of being rejected that I felt sad for. It's the feeling of doing your best and not seeing ANY results coming out of it. Same like how I tried out for Bowling IG in my first year and being told I didn't make the cut.

However, life is not always a bed of thorns. I have friends to thank who have shown their care and concern for me. I will get over it. It's just a matter of time. I have family who knows how to live a wonderful life. I have loved ones who never fail to make me smile even when I'm down or angry. Truth is, 2010 wasn't really a bad year. It was just a year for me to try. At least that's the first step before you can really succeed. :)

(Trying) to be a Concierge.

UT1 was over and I thought I can finally breathe again but UT2 is just around the corner even faster than I can shout "Hooray!" Call me kiasu or whatever but I just think there is a need for me to do well for the second test since the first one was kind of screwed up. I guess the real difficulty is that everything is so practical and there's research that I need to do on my own. ):

Tattoo update! Both Momo and Pops disagreed vehemently towards my idea of getting a tattoo. Actually, it was only Pops. I told him while he was making coffee and I was in the showers and I think he kind of overreacted although he did not really tell me why I can't get a tattoo. Momo got to know about the tattoo idea through Pops at dinner (as always) and she asked where I wanted to put the tattoo which got me excited as I thought there was a chance but after I told her I wanted one around my ankle she just disapprove in the gentlest way, like there was some dark reasons behind why she did not allow me to get a tattoo.

Other than that, school's just being a bitch. Everything's so clustered together, there's understanding test 2 and interviews and what-nots for internship and there's understanding test 3 and there's people you just can't work with. Somehow one of our class facilitators have managed to enforce a punishment for students who are coming late to class by asking them to sing which was a really bad idea considering the fact that I assume no one in class takes singing lessons and they are belting out songs from artistes that I really like such as Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga. So now I am most likely never going to listen to "Time for Miracles", "Bad Romance" and "Happy Birthday". Yes, the last one being the song that we sing a few times every year. NOW STOP BEING LATE!

"Mummy, can I get a tattoo?"

Okay, I have been thinking of getting a tattoo since forever. I don't know when I started obsessing over body art but I really think it is nice to have something that speaks of you or something that brings out your morale. That being said, I am not a big fan of a full body art which I doubt I will be up for considering I am in the Hospitality industry and I may come to regret it one day.

Now the difficult part is to convince my parents. This is one of the things that I cannot do behind their backs because if I am going to get the tattoo at a prominent area then I wouldn't want to walk around the house covering those areas all the time. I don't want to get a tattoo only to get busted and brought back to the tattoo parlour to have it removed.

Talking about prominent areas, I have looked through a lot of photos and I just love how the tattoos are at specific areas of the body that makes it so sexyyyy! Some photos to show you what I'm talking about:

Mummy, can I have a tattoo please?

Date to remember.

It's October the 25th people! :)

I feel that there are many things that are worth being happy for happening on this very day so I decided to make a blog post about it. Hahah, normally I don't do such things but there is always a first time, right?

Firstly, things that are close to the heart. No, I'm not attached. My closest friend, A, who is like a sister to me has just pass her driving! *claps claps* Now we have 2 drivers in P10 who can drive us around. :) Hopefully I pass mine in one try. The pressure is on!

Secondly, a big huge ass happy birthday to Katy Perry!!! I don't know if you guys know but I am a super huge fan of Katy Perry. FYI, Katy Perry is named the hottest woman alive by Maxim! So you can just imagine how hot she is. Also, she's recently married to Russell Brand! Other than that, I love her music and I love her personality and I hope she holds a concert in Singapore! Happy 26th Mrs Brand! :)

Thirdly, Taylor Swift's album, Speak Now, is released today. I am also a big fan of Taylor Swift's song because I feel that she is one of the most talented singer-songwriter I've ever come across. Her songs speak her life story and touched so many people lives. Remember the song "Love Story"? :)

Lastly, this date marks the celebration of the most important food (to me and maybe A and S)! Today is World Pasta Day! I am super in love with pasta especially affordable pasta from Pastamania! I have tried pastas from other restaurants too and I love them but sadly I don't remember their names. :P

Okay, so I guess that's about it. Somehow I just feel so happy knowing so many happy stuff are happening on the exact same day. Hope everyone had a good Monday too!

13 days! :)

Second Semester.

As all of you should know by now, school term has started and I, or rather everyone, is back to their daily routine again. As always, we were made to change classes every semester and this semester was no exception albeit the Pulau Ubin camp which was held to allow us to bond closer. Ironic.

After spending one week with my classmates, I would say they are fine. Most of them are mutual friends so I was able to adapt to the class quickly. Of course, I am really blessed to have classmates of previous semester to join me in this semester, especially Wan Ting Azah and Eda, whom I'm really grateful for! :) I must also say I am really lucky that I do not have anyone in my class whom I am on bad terms with. (Cheryl and Samuel, my heart goes out for you!) It's hasn't even been one week and bitches have emerged like a sore thumb. Shall not elaborate much here but the people of E56N of Year 2010 have done absolutely nothing wrong so don't even try messing with us.

Till then, I have my eyes set on you people. You know better.

xoxo

Grandparents.

Being brought up since young by my grandparents, I always thought growing up in an environment like those of our grandparents were the best. They wake up and are not pressured by the hectic lifestyles of the masses that society has moulded people to become part of. I remember growing up and spending most of my days after school at my grandparents'.  A usual routine of my day at my grandparents' would be a 10 to 15 minute school bus ride to the road opposite my grandparents'. Sometimes before the bus reaches, I would take a peep to see who would be there to fetch me. Sometimes, it would be Granny and other days it would be Gramps. Once in a while when I'm lucky both of them will be there, waiting for me be it rain or shine. When we reached, I would then follow the usual routine of bath-homework-television. Sometimes if time permits I would sneak in some time for napping too. Occasionally I would be brought to the playground where other kids around my age mingled and my grandparents would talk to other grandparents-alike while they keep a look out for their grandchildren. When night time came, I would await the arrival of my family for dinner before heading back home. It's life like these that I yearn for even today.A decade passed and many things have happened. The day when Gramps passed was a day that will always seem like yesterday. I can still remember the look on Granny's face and how devastated everyone was. It was my first encounter with the harsh reality of death so it impacted me a lot in some way. Everything may seem fine for a minute but before I knew it someone whom I've been brought up by has left. And trust me, it was not easy dealing with death nor the heartbreak.Granny, on the other hand, has been my closest companion since. I always told people I'm closer to my granny than to my parents, which was normal for me since most of my childhood days were encrypted mostly with memories of my days spent at my grandparents'. I love the fact that Granny has always been strong. She is not the typical maiden nor the princess. If I had to describe her she would be tough, straight-forward, crude, funny, and everything in between. Today, she's making steamboat for my whole family. My family still goes over for dinner four times a week just like how we did a decade ago. Nothing's changed, and I'm happy things stayed this way. Somehow a part of me still feels that having dinner at my granny's still makes me the kid I was a decade ago: Carefree and playful.

Hope It Gives You Hell.

School has been boring boring boring! Been a few rough weeks in school. Managed to make a few classmates who are pretty funny but that's all. It has all been about grooming and what not! But I have kind of gotten used to it already so all's well now.

Grades wise, still working on it. I have really nice people as my facilitators and I am glad none are acting weird. The As need to be in this week!

Other than that, life's been pretty mundane! I have a few things that I need to buy! HTC Hero! New Sanuk's (or any other brands)! Ok gotta go!

Xoxo,
A.

Officially Missing You

Okay okay, I know I said I will post soon but just saw this awesome video! Was listening to Janice & Sonia singing Officially Missing You (Original song by Tamia) and I came across another one which was nice too:

If you haven't seen the one by J & S, it's here:

I IS BACK!

I know you must be wondering where the hell did I go to, but voila! I am back! :)

2010 has been a mad mad busy year for me which is the main reason why(excuses only) I hadn't had the time to update this poor old blog of mine. Let me just run through some of the main events that happened from January till now.

January: Busy with school school school! Apparently we were nearing our last exam and so I was studying very hard during that point in time. Celebrated Yuwon Ng and Benjamin Liew's 18th birthday! :)

February: Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year fell on the same date! And it so happens to mark the start of our school holidays too! Sooo I went to Malaysia (Sunway Lagoon to be exact) for 3D2N which was fun because I got to indulge myself in A&W and shopping. Watched 14 blades there which was mad cheap! One ticket was going for SGD6 bucks? And then it was the normal routine of house visiting and collection of red packets after that. Celebrated Vanessa's birthday and A's birthday too! :D

March: Work work work! Nothing much anyway. Work was pretty much the way you expect office jobs to be. Regular timing and glued to the computer the whole day. Just finished work today and all relieved! Going for a one day job @ NUH tomorrow! :D Mad early! Must reach there by 8.15am but planning to reach @ 8 because I am positive that I will get lost looking for the room which I am suppose to report to.

Alright, shall update till here! Can't wait for 3 week work to start and clique chalet which is nearing! :D
